Current and former Patriots aren’t too happy about Tom Brady heading to Super Bowl LX.
Brady drew attention earlier this week when he said he didn’t have a “dog in the fight” during Sunday’s game between the Patriots and the Seahawks.
From the man who said “I’m Tom Brady, and I’m a patriot” nearly two years ago at the Patriots Hall of Fame and won six Super Bowls in New England, the non-acceptance came as a shock to many.
Brady has some built-in excuses, as a minority owner for the Las Vegas Raiders and also a broadcaster for FOX, although the Pats legend won’t be in the stands on Sunday. Brady’s Raiders are expected to hire Seahawks offensive line coach Klint Kubiak as their next head coach. Even still, his words have echoed quite a bit in the run-up to the Super Bowl, and they’re not being well received by Patriots Nation.
His former teammate Vince Wilfork didn’t like what he heard from Brady.
“That’s bullshit, Tom,” Wilfork, who won two Super Bowls with Brady, said on Boston radio station WEEI, via ESPN. “All this political (stuff), it’s not political. It’s not political, what it is. The Raiders are not into it. Say what it is, what you see.”
One of the WEEI hosts said he thought Brady should root for New England so he could be called a Patriot for life, and Wilfork didn’t seem to disagree with that sentiment.
“At the end of the day, if you’re a Patriot for life, you know what it is,” Wilfork said. “Don’t give me that political bullshit. It’s just the way it is.
“If you don’t think we’re going to win, just pick Seattle. Don’t straddle the fence.”
