Raiders GM defends Ashton Jeanty’s rookie season: ‘There are 10 others out there with him’

Raiders GM defends Ashton Jeanty's rookie season: 'There are 10 others out there with him'

The Raiders offense was a mess around the backs, especially the offensive line, which struggled to open holes. Among quarterbacks with at least 200 touches, Jeanty had just 112 receiving yards, second fewest in the NFL, with 88.5% of his yards coming after touchdown, according to Next Generation Stats. His 71 unforced forced tackles in rushing attempts were tied for fourth in the NFL with rushing leader James Cook, behind Jonathan Taylor (93), Christian McCaffrey (91) and Bijan Robinson (81).

If the situation around Jeanty improves under a new coaching staff, his talent will become more apparent in 2026.

“I think it was good,” Jeanty said of his rookie campaign. “Obviously there’s still a lot of room to grow, but I think I did a pretty good job with what I had. There are some plays that I’ve run back and looked at, wish I could have used more but that’s just part of the game. You’re not going to make every single play out there.

“But I’m going to work this offseason, build on what I’ve done this year and just try to improve on the little things I can.”
