Patriots’ Eliot Wolf: 2026 NFL draft class not historically great but ‘strong’ at O-line, D-line, WR

Patriots' Eliot Wolf: 2026 NFL draft class not historically great but 'strong' at O-line, D-line, WR

The lack of safe QBs beyond the expected no. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza takes some pizzazz from the 2026 class, but there is depth of talent at edge rusher and there are receivers who can contribute right away. The tight end position is interesting because while it may not have many players in the first round, there is depth to be found on Day 3.

After picking in the top five each of the past two seasons, the Patriots’ first pick comes in at No. 31 overall. New England has a total of 11 picks, with three coming in the first 100 picks.

“If we do our job and do everything right, we’ll be able to get a good player with every pick, and that’s our intention,” Wolf said. “I feel that way about every draft. No matter what happens, there are always ways and means to improve the team.”

NFL Network Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah currently boasts 10 edges, eight wide receivers, seven cornerbacks, six offensive tackles, four defensive tackles, four linebackers, three safeties, three interior offensive linemen, two running backs, two running backs and one tight end.
