Niners’ George Kittle on power-play theory: Let’s ‘make sure it’s not something’

Niners' George Kittle on power-play theory: Let's 'make sure it's not something'

The viral theory that the San Francisco 49ers’ recent injuries could be caused by the substation next to the team’s practice facility continues to spread.

The NFL has addressed the theory, with the NFL’s chief medical officer, Dr. Allen Sills, recently said there is no evidence to support the idea, but noted the league remains “open to anything.”

As Niners players are questioned about the idea that radiation from the substation may have contributed to the injury, the case lives on.

Most recently, George Kittle was asked about the conspiracy theory in a Super Bowl week interview with Complex’s Jordan Rose. Kittle’s take: Let’s make sure it’s not a problem.

“One of my teammates put it really well, Kyle Juszczyk, our quarterback. And he said, ‘As a professional athlete, you’re always trying to get one percent better,'” Kittle said. “Like, ‘Is it an ice cream tub, is it a rehab-recovery thing, is it red light therapy, does it make me one percent better? Because then you can stack all of that up and you’re like, ‘Hey, you’re three percent better than the next person. boy because you are doing all this.’

“If something has a negative impact like 0.25 percent, you’d want to know about it. Like if it’s this type of magic is hurting me, this type of shoulder pads is, would like, increase my risk of injury. You’d probably change it.

“So I think all we’re saying is, as players, it’s like, we’d just want to look into it to make sure it’s not something. That’s what I’d just appreciate. Like, ‘Hey, it’s not going to affect you guys.’ And then if they come out and they do some research, like, “No, you’re good,” I don’t think we’ll think about it.
