- Eagles get back on track, roll over hapless Raiders. The cure for a three-game losing streak? Playing the Las Vegas Raiders. A Philly offense that hadn’t scored more than 21 points in five straight games and couldn’t get out of its way during a three-game skid got everything it wanted on Sunday. Jalen hurts calmly dismantled the Raiders’ secondary, throwing three touchdowns, including a 1,000-yarder on third down to AJ Brown to open the fourth quarter – his final game in the hitting streak. Hurts repeatedly found the wide open Dallas Goedertwhich Vegas forgot to cover several times. If not for the dropped TD, Goedert would have had a hat trick day. The lull of the game allowed Hurts and the starters to sit out most of the fourth quarter. Saquon Barkley and the ground game found easy holes in the guts. Philly’s rushing attack racked up 183 yards. After weeks of struggling to consistently move the ball, the Eagles had three drives of 10-plus plays and only went three-and-out once with Hurts under center. Philly’s offense needed a game like Sunday to get positive vibes back.
- Philly’s defense continues to flow. Vic Fangio’s defense is a suffocating bear. The Eagles didn’t give the Raiders offense a breather. From the front, even without Jalen Carterdominated the line of scrimmage, hold Ashton Jeanty contained and disrupts the starting QB Kenny Pickett. Philly had four sacks, allowed a paltry 75 yards and seven first downs. Brandon Graham turned back the clock and overpowered the Raiders’ offensive line for two sacks. Sticking extra forced checks after the stoppage and didn’t miss tackles. The Eagles’ D team forced four fumbles. Philly did what it was supposed to do against the Raiders’ predatory offense. It wasn’t even a surprise to set up a shutdown. Since Week 14, Philly has not allowed a touchdown in 20 drives.
- Kenny Pickett fights against his former partner. The QB change didn’t spark the Raiders’ offense. Takes over for the injured Geno SmithPickett took a lot of checkdowns, averaging 2.6 yards per attempt on 15-of-25 passing for 64 yards and a pick. The former first-round pick had four sacks and threw an ugly INT in which he appeared to predetermine a pass – Brock Bowers was taken off Zack Beanwhich made for an easy INT. The Raiders offensive line continues to dominate. Vegas did not generate more than 30 yards on eight drives. The Eagles’ final drive of the game, with Tanner McKee under center, went 79 yards. The Raiders scored 75 in the entire game. Pete Carroll’s team is so far behind the competition.
