Pirates Re‑Sign Outfielder Kyler Fedko on Two‑Year Minor Dea

The Pirates have inked outfielder Kyler Fedko to a two‑year minor league pact, reports Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post‑Gazette. Fedko is recovering from August knee surgery that repaired a torn ACL, MCL and LCL, meaning most of the 2027 season will be spent rehabbing.

At 27, Fedko broke into the majors with Minnesota earlier this year after six seasons grinding in the minors. He earned a mid‑June call‑up, logged 14 games and 19 plate appearances, walked twice and drove in a run via a sacrifice fly, though a first hit eluded him. The Twins sent him to Triple‑A St. Paul on July 10; there he posted a .274/.362/.545 slash line with a 128 wRC+ before his knee disaster halted his season in early August. He was released on September 1 and the Pirates signed him three days later.

Making the majors from a 12th‑round 2021 pick is impressive, and for my money Fedko could become a valuable depth piece. He’ll rehab in Pittsburgh and aim for a big‑league comeback in 2028, sitting behind Bryan Reynolds, Oneil Cruz and Esmerlyn Valdez on the depth chart. Could his minor‑league production translate into a spot on the roster next season?
