Brewers assistant GM Matt Kleine has entered the Astros’ GM race, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.
Jim Crane hinted the hunt would wait until season’s end, leaving fans guessing. While internal names like Charles Cook and Jeff Bagwell float around, I think Kleine stands out as the freshest perspective. FanSided’s Robert Murray also flagged Milwaukee’s front office as a talent pool.
Houston now juggles vacancies on both the bench and in the front office. Manager Joe Espada was let go after his contract expired, and the incoming GM will likely weigh in on the next coaching hire as Crane’s group narrows candidates.
The Astros slipped into the playoffs with an 81‑81 record, edged the Rangers for the AL West, then fell to the White Sox in the Wild Card. After three postseason trips in four years without a series win, can a new general manager finally break the streak?
