Federico Chiesa watches the MotoGP grid at Mugello on May 31, 2026 in Scarperia, Italy.

Angelo Di Livio, ex‑Italy and Juventus midfielder, claims Chiesa blundered by signing for Liverpool and urges a move to Roma, adding Juventus field players unfit for the badge.

Di Livio earned 40 caps for Italy and lifted the Champions League, three Serie A crowns, a Coppa Italia, the Intercontinental Cup and two Supercoppa Italiana titles with Juventus.

Chiesa has barely featured at Anfield, and his reluctance to quit the Premier League persists despite limited minutes.

Roma could target his return to Serie A during the January window.

Di Livio comments on Chiesa and Juventus.

Federico Chiesa #14 of Liverpool warms up before a friendly versus Leeds United at Soldier Field on August 2, 2026 in Chicago.

“Chiesa made a mistake joining Liverpool,” Di Livio told Retesport.

“A player of his calibre shouldn’t waste his talent. He needs revival, and I’d sign him for his ability on either wing,” he added.

“Under Gian Piero Gasperini, Chiesa would likely regain his spot in the Azzurri squad,” Di Livio suggested.

Chiesa of Liverpool features in the Premier League clash with Newcastle United at St James’ Park on August 25, 2025.

Since moving from Juventus to Liverpool in summer 2024, Chiesa logged 51 competitive games, netting five goals and delivering five assists.

He accumulated 1,194 minutes on the pitch over just over two years.

Luciano Spalletti watches the Genoa‑Juventus Serie A match on October 28, 2026. Will he reshape the squad in time?

In my view, the current Juventus roster looks woefully thin, far from the standards the club once set. Di Livio, who spent most of his career at Juventus, is unimpressed with the squad at Luciano Spalletti’s disposal.

He said the squad is poor, with players unworthy of the Bianconeri shirt, and lamented seeing Turin side lose without consequence.

“Before blaming only Spalletti, I’d examine the quality of the group that’s been assembled,” he warned.

Juventus suffered a 2‑0 defeat to Genoa in midweek action last night.
