Sepp Blatter Ridicules Infantino After Zurich Speech

Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter ridicules Gianni Infantino following his Zurich speech.Blatter mocks Infantino the day after his Zurich address to FIFA’s executive committee.

The day after Gianni Infantino addressed FIFA’s executive committee in Zurich, his former boss Sepp Blatter wasted no time lampooning the global‑football chief.

Infantino’s remarks fell flat, sparking division among the board. Amid a storm over his plan to open the World Cup to private investors, the Italo‑Swiss leader offered a tentative mea culpa. “We apologise for the mistakes made in the conduct and communication of this project, which have led to numerous consequences,” he said in Zurich, before pledging a $25 million (about €22 million) fund.

Will football ever reclaim its credibility after such theatrics?

Critics slammed Infantino’s speech, yet it gave Blatter fresh material for his X tirade. In my view, Blatter’s snark underscores how far the sport’s leadership has drifted from credibility.
