Lautaro Martínez underwent clinical and instrumental tests Thursday at Rozzano’s Humanitas Institute, which revealed a muscle strain in his left thigh flexors. Inter announced the captain’s injury.
The forward has become a cornerstone of Inter’s project and its main reference. He suffered the injury right after netting a brace in the European tie against Brugge, where Inter fell 3-4 at home.
The setback arrives during a demanding spell for the ‘neroazzurri’, a dip that will loom over several decisive weeks before the international break starts on November 9.
Lautaro may miss up to seven matches, including European clashes with Shakhtar Donetsk and Feyenoord, plus Serie A games versus Bologna, Fiorentina, Venezia, Milan and Como. The penultimate fixture is a Milan derby, crucial for both club and fans. For my money, missing the derby will hurt Inter’s momentum.
This season the striker has scored four goals in five league outings, highlighted by a double against Roma that sparked a 0-2 comeback, and another goal versus Napoli, sealing another Inter revival.
If recovery goes as planned, Inter’s captain will be back after November’s international pause. Will his return reignite Inter’s title push?
