Whyte says he’s more than ready to face Johnny Fisher, promising to halt the Romford Bull within four rounds.
He watched from ringside as Fisher earned a majority‑decision win over Michael Pirotton at the Copper Box on Saturday night.
After his August loss to Moses Itauma, Whyte is eager to bounce back and has welcomed Fisher’s verbal challenge.
‘I’ll knock Fisher out,’ he declares. ‘Heavyweight boxing is unpredictable; I could get caught high, like last time, but I’ll still finish him.’
‘If the bout drags beyond three or four rounds, I’ll be shocked,’ he adds. ‘I may be an ageing dog, but my teeth are still intact.’
For my money, his victories over Joseph Parker and Alexander Povetkin prove he can still compete with top contenders. He says an explosive clash with Fisher—who boasts 12 KOs in 15 wins—would be thrilling.
Whyte notes Fisher’s style is erratic, leaving gaps, yet his power is undeniable. ‘He throws big punches, a massive frame, and hits hard, so the fight would be exciting while it lasts,’ he says.
When asked about Fisher’s biggest danger, Whyte points to ‘big overhand rights.’ He adds, ‘I’ve faced the best of my era. This fight intrigues me because it’s risky. My last bout lasted a round, so some think I’m past my prime—let them think.’
He doesn’t mind being a stepping stone, insisting ‘you need one to climb higher.’ ‘I was relaxing at home, they offered a fight, so let’s make it happen,’ he says.
