Perez Extends Cadillac Deal Through 2029 Ahead of Mexico GP

Can you believe Checo just locked in a deal that runs to 2029?

The 36‑year‑old will hit his 300th Grand Prix start this Sunday, right in front of the Mexican fans at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

“Joining the Cadillac Formula 1 team from day one felt like the right project, so extending my stay is a natural next step,” Perez said.

“Building a team from scratch demands patience, relentless effort and time. The progress we’re seeing is incredibly rewarding, yet there’s still plenty to do, and I’m all in for the next three years.”

“Huge thanks to Dan Towriss, Mark Reuss and everyone at TWG Motorsports and GM for trusting me to grow what we started. To the crew worldwide and our fans – I won’t let you down. Let’s keep pushing!”

After Red Bull cut ties at the close of 2024, Perez spent a year on the sidelines before re‑entering F1 with the new Cadillac outfit. For my money, his comeback proves resilience.

Even though he sits at the bottom of the Drivers’ Championship, Perez has out‑scored teammate Valtteri Bottas, who also signed a multi‑year deal believed to run through 2027.

Now the third‑most seasoned driver on the grid, behind only Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, Perez will be 39 by the end of the 2029 season.

Earlier this year, Perez teamed up with world No 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler for a round at the Cadillac Championship

Alonso and Hamilton have both stretched into their 40s, and Checo may aim to mirror those former champions by extending his own F1 tenure.

Cadillac chief Dan Towriss declared, “On the eve of a special Mexican weekend, we’re thrilled that Checo will stay a core part of our Formula 1 project for years to come.”

“Creating a competitive F1 outfit is a long‑term mission, and locking in Checo’s talent gives us the continuity we need to build on the solid base we set in year one. Together we’ll push forward and climb the grid,” he added.
