Missed opportunities in the first half

Hamburg generated the sharper chances early on. Terem Moffi headed over from close range within ten minutes, Zakaria El Ouahdi forced a save that flew over the bar at 24 minutes, and Albert Grønbæk rattled two attempts – one from a tight angle and another that drifted just wide.

Both Nnamdi Collins and Götze received yellow cards as Frankfurt struggled to settle, leaving the teams deadlocked at halftime.

Hamburg switched at the break, bringing on Jason Bissi-Mouelle for Sebastiaan Bornauw. The breakthrough arrived in the 56th minute when Uzun’s cross met Burkardt, whose header set up Koch to tap home from close range, 1-0. Moffi later headed a free kick wide at the back post as Hamburg pressed for an answer.

Frankfurt stretched the lead in the 71st minute when Götze found Burkardt, who steadied himself and slotted past Tangvik. Minutes later, Hütter made a double substitution, introducing Younes Ebnoutalib and Noëll Aséko. Ebnoutalib, on his debut, turned his back on his marker and smashed the ball into the roof for a 3-0 lead in the 75th minute.
