Kansas Zoo names baby rhino after Chiefs quarterback Creed Humphrey

“Creed is a name that represents strength, determination and heart — qualities we see not only in this incredible calf but also in its namesake,” Rolling Hills Zoo executive director Ryan VanZant said in a news release. “We are excited to celebrate this connection and share his story with our community – especially with Chiefs Kingdom.”

A second-round pick by the Chiefs in 2021, Humphrey has made four straight Pro Bowls and won two Super Bowls in KC. The 26-year-old previously held the record for the highest-paid pivot at $18 million per year before the Raiders handed Tyler Linderbaum a $27 million per year contract — but does Linderbaum have an endangered species named after him?

“When I was approached with the idea of Rolling Hills Zoo naming a new rhino calf after me, it seemed like such a unique and amazing opportunity,” Humphrey said in the release. “Since white rhinos are an endangered species, being able to visit and interact with Creed the rhino was amazing. I encourage everyone to visit Rolling Hills Zoo for their conservation efforts and how interactive the entire zoo is.”
