The Jets are making another quarterback trade.
New York is trading Justin Fields to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick, Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network Insiders reported Monday.
The Chiefs are taking on $3 million of Fields’ $10 million guaranteed in 2026, according to Pelissero.
A week after acquiring Geno Smith in a trade with the Raiders, the Jets are sending Fields to the Chiefs — an ideal suit for the former first-round pick.
Fields, 27, could see a great opportunity in Kansas City as Patrick Mahomes recovers from ACL and LCL tears suffered on Dec. 15. If not the Chiefs’ starting QB in Week 1, Fields would be a solid replacement for the two-time MVP and is an intriguing red-zone option for the coach’s back-to-back creative offense.
Around the NFL will have more on this trade soon.
