Jets head coach Aaron Glenn had kept his decision on who will start at quarterback close to the vest for Week 8, but injuries will force him.
Justin Fields will start Sunday’s road game against the Cincinnati Bengals with Tyrod Taylor (knee) ruled out, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported Saturday.
The Jets have since announced the news.
Taylor took over for Fields midway through last Sunday’s loss to the Panthers, fielding questions for Glenn this week about who he will continue with at quarterback.
Glenn was tight-lipped about his decision despite Taylor being limited all week in practice with a knee injury. The veteran was initially listed as questionable to play for Saturday’s demotion.
