Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter (knee) will be placed on injured reserve, miss next four games

Hunter spent the majority of his first seven games on offense, posting 305 snaps to 154 on defense. The Jags had designs on carving out an even bigger role for the dynamic rookie in the second half of the season, especially on offense.

Now those plans are on hold for at least four weeks — and possibly longer.

At 4-3, on the fringes of the AFC playoffs, the Jags’ offense has been up and down in 2025. Hunter was coming off his best game of the season in a Week 7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in London. The rookie completed eight of 14 targets for a career-high 101 yards and a TD.

“It’s definitely not ideal timing, not that any injury is always ideal timing,” Coen said. “But I have to believe the makeup, his general attitude towards life, the way he handles dealing with special situations, I have a lot of faith in Travis as a person, as a competitor to come back better than ever.”

With Hunter out of the lineup, the Jags desperately need Brian Thomas Jr. second-year receiver to shake off his early-season funk.

There were plenty of questions and concerns this offseason regarding Hunter’s ability to play full time on both sides of the ball. None of them shared that training injuries were the biggest obstacle so far.
