The United States will stage the first Women’s Club World Cup in January 2028, FIFA confirms.
Arsenal joins six other clubs already confirmed, while twelve more will be added later.
Nineteen teams will compete from 5 to 30 January 2028, mirroring the new men’s Club World Cup format.
The U.S. previously hosted the men’s Club World Cup in 2025 and co‑hosted the 2026 World Cup with Mexico and Canada.
It will also share the 2031 Women’s World Cup with Costa Rica, Jamaica and Mexico.
“The United States’ recent success staging top FIFA events, combined with strong interest in women’s football and world‑class facilities, made it the clear choice,” said Sarai Bareman. For my money, the United States is the perfect host.
Barcelona, Gotham, Club América, Corinthians, Naegohyang and Wuhan Jiangda have also secured spots.
UEFA will add six more European clubs, while AFC, CAF, CONCACAF and CONMEBOL each receive three slots and OFC one.
“These seven clubs and a dozen more will showcase the depth of women’s club football to a global audience,” Bareman added.
“They’ll tell their story, grow their fanbase and represent their clubs on the world stage. They’ve truly earned this historic chance in the United States,” she noted.
It follows FIFA’s recent mid‑season women’s event, the Champions Cup, which debuted in February and was won by Arsenal. Will this new competition reshape the women’s club calendar?
The United States will host the inaugural Women’s Club World Cup in January 2028, with Arsenal among the first clubs announced.
