Canada is looking for its first World Cup win on Thursday, and the opportunities don’t get much better than a home game against Qatar.
The Canucks picked up their first World Cup point in their tournament opener, Cyle Larin’s deflected shot securing a 1–1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina, which leaves Group B all to play for.
Qatar also managed a point from their opener, defying expectations and match statistics to steal a draw against Switzerland in Santa Clara last week. For the first time, the hosts of the 2022 tournament could reach the knockout stage.
A win for either Canada or Qatar would all but secure their place in the last 32, with four points almost certainly enough to reach the knockout stage.

Qatar pulled off the unthinkable against Switzerland last week.
Just one group stage match remains for co-hosts Canada and Qatar after their upcoming clash in Vancouver. Neither team can qualify or be eliminated on Thursday, meaning there is sure to be something going on in their finals on June 24.

Canada faces Switzerland in what will likely be its most difficult match, once again returning to BC Place, while Qatar faces Bosnia and Herzegovina at Lumen Field.
Both games start at 12pm PT (3pm ET, 8pm BST).
