The Miami Dolphins’ decision regarding quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is coming.
The first question general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and coach Jeff Hafley discussed Thursday night at a fan event was about Tua’s status with the club.
“Obviously we’ll look at other quarterbacks in this draft,” Sullivan said, via Ashley Dominguez of the SoFlo Sports Show . “And all drafts hereafter. But, look, I’ve had — Tua was in my office the other day, to be completely honest. We had a great conversation. Tua has been a very good player in this league. He’s done a lot of very good things for the Miami Dolphins. You guys should be proud to have him and to have had him.
“I don’t know what the future holds now and I told Tua that. We are working through some things. What I can tell you is that we are going to put competition into the room, whether Tua is part of the room, whether he is not part of the room. We are going to bring competition into the room, as we will do in any other position. Tua knows exactly where we are, honest and he also knows where we are. will be the first to know when we make a decision. So if Tua is the one first to know, you can’t be the first to know, and I know you respect that.
“But we’re getting close to a decision. And when we do, we’ll let Tua know if he’s going to be in it or not, and we’ll move on. But you can be sure we’ll add competition to this room, one way or another, to do the best we can.”
