Fulham have completed the signing of Sweden international midfielder Hugo Larsson from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Larsson joined Frankfurt from Swedish club Malmo in 2023 and has made 83 Bundesliga appearances in the three years since.
The 22-year-old was given permission to travel to undertake a medical with the London club before completing his move ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The move is a loan with an obligation to buy for a fee of a maximum of €25million, sources briefed on the parameters, not authorised to speak publicly, say.
“Obviously, it’s a very proud moment for me and my family — I’m honoured to be here,” Larsson said. “To come here, to the oldest club in London, with all the history that it has, is such an honour for me.”
It has been a summer of change at Craven Cottage under new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa. The former Real Madrid boss replaced Marco Silva in the dugout after he left following the expiry of his contract in June.
Larsson joins Shea Charles as a new midfield addition for Fulham while Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios both arrived from Real Madrid this summer.
What will Larsson bring?
Larsson is a physical, athletic box-to-box player who should suit the Premier League environment well.
The Swede is not really a playmaker or a cultured passer, but will score goals by arriving in the penalty box at the right moments and will also provide a level of defensive support without the ball.
Larsson is not a classic ball-winner or destroyer, but will still provide a level of support to his defenders.
