FC Cincinnati forward Aaron Boupendza is expected to miss 6-8 weeks while he recovers from a broken jaw suffered in an off-field injury, the club announced Wednesday.
Since then, Boupendza has posted 7g/1a in 20 league games (11 starts). He also managed 1g/1a in four Audi 2023 MLS Cup Finals games, after helping Cincy capture its first Supporters’ Shield.
Of late, Boupendza lost his starting spot as Cincy deployed Yuya Kubo and Corey Baird at forward. The club also recently signed Venezuelan youth international forward Kevin Kelsy on loan from Ukrainian powerhouse Shakhtar Donetsk.
Through 12 games, Cincy is second in the Eastern Conference with 18 points (5W-2L-3D).
