It appears Atlanta will turn to their 37-year-old backup in Week 8.
The Falcons will give Michael Penix Jr. (knee) until the game to see if he can go against the Miami Dolphins, but Kirk Cousins is likely to start Sunday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Saturday.
It’s a scenario head coach Raheem Morris has prepared for with Penix limited in practice all week, telling reporters Friday that Cousins has taken “significant” reps in practice.
Penix, who was listed as questionable to play on the injury report, suffered a bone bruise in his knee in a Week 7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Cousins would see his first start since Week 15 of the 2024 season.
Around The NFL will have more on this story soon.
