Can a 13‑year‑old really chase the edge of performance? Carlos Sainz has told Williams junior Will Green to focus on finding limits rather than merely being consistent as he steps up from karting to cars.

Green joined the Williams Racing Academy in December 2024 and has just clinched the 2026 Karting European Championship junior title.

In a chat led by the teenage karting champion, the Spanish driver broke down his philosophy on junior development, technical feedback and fitness preparation.

“Don’t shy away from errors. It’s better to push hard and slip up than to play it safe,” Sainz said in the Williams YouTube interview. “At your age, soaking up lessons matters most. So, don’t hold back.”

“Take risks, attempt daring overtakes or last‑lap moves that might seem too bold. This stage is perfect for it, because that’s when learning spikes,” he added.

Risk fuels confidence, and confidence multiplies talent.

I think his smooth shift from karting to cars proves he’s got genuine talent, and the 32‑year‑old noted the transition felt natural to him.

“One day you’ll hop into a car. They’ll teach you gears and everything. The first couple of laps feel odd, then your instinct to floor it kicks in and you’ll find the groove,” he explained.

We want your opinion! We expect him to reach Formula 2 by 2028.
