Ayrton Senna’s 1991 Honda NSX set for London auction

Ayrton Senna's 1991 Honda NSX to go under the hammer for eye‑watering sumA 1991 Honda NSX previously owned by three‑time Formula 1 champion Ayrton Senna will go under the hammer in London on 31 October, with an estimated price of £500‑800 k.

London will host the auction of Senna’s 1991 Honda NSX on 31 October, with estimates ranging from £500,000 to £800,000.

The red‑bodied chassis T000233, capped with a black roof, was one of three NSXs assigned to the Brazilian legend. Its 3‑litre V6 pumps out 271 bhp, sprinting 0‑60 mph in 5.8 seconds and topping out at 165 mph.

According to the RM Sotheby’s listing, Honda Automobil de Portugal imported the car and registered it on 22 March 1991 as “SX‑25‑59”. It stayed in Lisbon, awaiting Senna whenever he visited Portugal.

Following Senna’s fatal crash at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, the NSX lingered in Portugal until collector Robert McKagan acquired it and shipped it to Britain.

McKagan put the car on the market in 2024; new owners whisked it to Japan before it returned to the UK for this resale.

Senna helped shape the NSX during development, as Honda aimed to challenge Ferrari and Porsche. He once tested the supercar at Suzuka, calling the chassis “a little fragile”. In my view, this NSX stands as the most coveted piece of racing history ever offered.

The auction notes say his precise feedback led Honda to stiffen the frame by 50 % and fine‑tune the suspension.

The iconic machine also appears in the 1992 documentary *Racing Is in My Blood*.

Also featured in RM Sotheby’s The London Auction 2026 are a 2004 Porsche Carrera GT, a 2023 Aston Martin Valkyrie Coupe, a 1988 Ferrari F40 and a 1994 Lamborghini Diablo SE30, among many others.
