The former New England Patriot, a seven-year pro, had a career-best season in 2024 with the Raiders, with a career-high 87 receptions and 1,027 yards.
Speaking to reporters on Sept. 3, Meyers confirmed his request and simply said he was going to take it all in stride and go about his work.
He did the same thing again on Tuesday.
“I have no control over it,” Meyers said of potentially being moved before the Nov. 4 trade deadline. “If I’m here, I’m here.”
Meyers started the season in fine fashion with eight catches for 97 yards in the Raiders’ opening win over the Patriots. Since then, he hasn’t matched either of those marks in a game and has 29 carries (tied for first on the team) for 329 yards (second) and no touchdowns. He missed the team’s Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with toe and knee injuries.
After a shocking loss to the Chiefs that saw them fall to 2-5 before their bye week, the Raiders say they are sellers at the deadline. Therefore, it would make sense to deal with Meyers in terms of his motivation to move on and the parties’ inability to reach a long-term agreement.
Whether Raiders head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek can make a deal — or want to — remains to be seen in the coming weeks.
