Richardson’s career has been cleared of injury. He played only four games in the newcomer season before shoulder injuries needed surgery during the season and when he returned in 2024, diagonal injuries forced him from two games. The former selected in the first round also fought accuracy in its second campaign and ended with a 47.7 final ratio of 264 attempts.
Richardson was short in class last season for former soldier Joe Flacco and Colts signed Daniel Jones in March as an elderly.
Jones’ arrival has increased urgently for Richardson to prove that he could become the right to vote that Colts expected him to be when they composed him fourth place in total in 2024.
The two are expected to compete for the starting team in training camps, a battle that is now complicated by Richardson’s shoulder disease.
“Obviously it is frustrating, but he is in a good mood,” said Steichen. “So we’re working through it now.”
Jones will get more minicamp representatives in the absence of Richardson and give him an advantage in imminent summer battles. Indianapolis will not explore adding another team manager as of now, Steichen said, and the coach added that Richardson was “making very good progress” for the injury.
This progress has been stopped by Richardson’s latest injury, a product “stress over time to throw away”, according to Steichen. Richardson will get the next month or two to get right with the hope that he will be able to challenge the job ahead of key points 2025.
