Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday’s game against the Cowboys and was taken off the field early in the fourth quarter.
Daniels’ leg was twisted awkwardly when Cowboys linebacker Shemar James dragged the QB to the ground in the third quarter. Daniels attempted a pass while being taken down, but the loose ball was ruled a fumble, which Dallas recovered.
Daniels slowly got to his feet and limped to the sideline with the help of his teammates, and Marcus Mariota came in to replace him.
Washington’s medical staff watched Daniels in the blue medical drape before escorting him into the locker room. He was considered questionable to return before being taken early in the final frame.
The Chiefs trailed 27-15 when Daniels left, but the Cowboys added to the lead with a touchdown nine plays after forcing a punt.
Mariota added to Washington’s lead on his first possession of the game, throwing an interception while under pressure that was returned for a touchdown by Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland to give them a 26-point lead.
Daniels was 12 of 22 passing for 156 yards and a touchdown through the air and added 35 yards and another score on the ground.
His appearance Sunday was his second game back after missing two games with a left knee injury.
