The Minnesota Vikings have added another veteran to their quarterback room.
Carson Wentz is re-signing with the Vikings on a one-year deal, NFL Network Insiders Tom Pelissero, Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Thursday, according to sources who announced the move. The team later announced the news.
The move comes after the Vikings signed Kyler Murray to a one-year deal last week to battle JJ McCarthy for the starting gig. Keeping Wentz is aimed at warding off the quarterback woes that sank their 2025 campaign, with undrafted free agent Max Brosmer forced to start two games.
Wentz started five games in McCarthy’s place last season, and performed relatively well in Kevin O’Connell’s offense before a dislocated shoulder sidelined him. Wentz tried to play through the injury, but was clearly hampered and eventually shut down for the season. In five starts, he completed 65.1 percent of 169 pass attempts for 1,216 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions.
