Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon asked about job status after 3-7 start: ‘Not manageable for me’

Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon asked about job status after 3-7 start: 'Not manageable for me'

After a 4-13 first season in Arizona, Gannon’s club showed some struggles and went 8-9 in 2024. The club expected to take a step forward in Year 3. That has not happened in any shape or form.

Injuries have played a role, first hindering what Gannon could do with his defensive scheme early. The running room has been destroyed. Kyler Murray’s foot injury added to the problems. Jacoby Brissett has stabilized the QB, but has far too little help.

There is a team that is still missing from the group.

With Murray questions swirling heading into the offseason, the question is whether owner Michael Bidwill decides to make a clean sweep this offseason, or give Gannon another go, possibly with a new QB.

One positive for Gannon: His players didn’t seem to quit on him — at least not yet.

“They also want to be part of the solution,” he said. “They come and tell me, and that’s good. I’d be lying to say it’s happy in there (the locker room) right now.”

At 3-7, the Cardinals are in the bottom of the NFC West and the only team under the 7-win mark in the division. They currently sit tied for the eighth-worst record in the NFL.
