Bills QB Josh Allen will be ready for the offseason program after surgery on a broken bone in his right foot

Josh Allen, who was seen on crutches at new Bills head coach Joe Brady’s press conference on Thursday, took to the podium shortly after to explain a foot issue that has been plaguing him.

Allen told reporters he recently underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his right foot, describing his ailment as an “older injury” that will see him play through part of the 2025 season.

“I had a little fracture in there, so they went and took it out and cleaned it up,” Allen said of his recent surgery. “Obviously, not ideal conditions. Painful all week. But again, game day, different story, just being able to put that aside and go out and play football.”

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that Allen’s surgery was due to a fractured eye on his fifth metatarsal.

Although the injury added insult to injury in the AFC loss to the Broncos and the subsequent firing by head coach Sean McDermott, Allen’s offseason schedule should not be affected.

Rapoport reported that Allen’s recovery time was eight to 10 weeks, and Allen said that he would still be under cover if the bills had not been destroyed.

“I’m not even going to lie, if we had to play a game this week, I would figure out to play a game,” he said. “It’s a little sore right now, but it wasn’t a crazy operation. Not too long. OTAs, I’ll be back and it shouldn’t hinder anything.”
