Jeffery Simmons, under contract with the Titans, wants to play in Robert Saleh's "offensive defense".

Jeffery Simmons is fresh off receiving the most lucrative contract extension for a defensive tackle in the NFL, a mark that reflects his approach to his craft.

“Every single day I wake up it’s, ‘How can I separate myself from everyone else?’ How can I be the best version of myself? How can I be better than yesterday?,” Simmons said last week, via the Titans’ official site. “I have the mindset that I’m not everybody else, I’m a different breed.

Those who have watched Simmons play football know he is a different breed, a destructive defensive tackle who often destroys opposing offenses. He expects his best chance to do so in 2026, his first season under new coach Robert Saleh.

“This is kind of my first year playing defensive end,” Simmons said. “It’s my game. I like to play on the other side of the line. … I love that type of defense, being able to be on the other side of the line every single game. It requires you to play. I love that philosophy and I think it’s going to help me play a lot more in the backfield, and it’s definitely going to help this team.”
