Giants' Cam Skaettbo won't change approach after injury: I'm going to go back to 'running people over'

Skattebo took the NFL world by storm as a fourth-round draft pick in 2025, gaining fans in droves thanks to his violent bowling approach to the quarterback position. He totaled 617 yards and seven scores in a season that was cut short by an ankle sprain in Week 8.

He has since worked his way back. During mandatory minicamp in New York last week, Skattebo participated in some 11-on-11 practices on a limited basis. The week before that, he hit Brian Burns’ softball game, which was actually his first since injury.

His impromptu home run has already hinted that Skattebo has no plans to change his devastating style, but his confirmation adds another layer of excitement to Big Blue’s upcoming first season under head coach John Harbaugh.

Given Harbaugh’s reliance on a strong running game, Skattebo should figure prominently in New York’s quest for a quick rebuild, likely leading a RB room that also includes Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary.

Although Skattebo is still working his way up to full participation, it’s been uneventful so far, hopefully less than three months to go before he’s back with damage from the back.

“Coach Harbaugh and [offensive coordinator Matt] Nagy, I’ve felt nothing but support and love from them,” Skattebo said. “They’re always on the road to getting back, and they’re starting to see where I’m at in my career and they’re starting to trust that. They’ve been very good to me. I trust both of those two, who [well] like everyone else on the staff.

“It’s been nothing but joy and happiness for me, just starting to fall back in love with the game after injury.
