San Francisco 49ers tight end Brandon Aiyuk, who has not played since Week 7 of the 2024 season and is on the team’s reserve/left tackle list, spoke for the first time since being placed on the roster on Dec. 13.
Aiyuk posted a roughly 90-second-long video message Sunday morning on Instagram, captioned “IF YOU QUIT JUST SAY DAT [sic]!!”
The 49ers have been open to trading Aiyuk, but 49ers general manager John Lynch said in April after the 2026 NFL draft that the team had no plans to release him “any time soon.” According to Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan in January, Aiyuk’s relationship with the club ended after the receiver stopped coming to the team and stopped communicating with them.
Aiyuk didn’t give any details about what caused the discrepancy, but left a lengthy message in which he wasn’t afraid to belittle the team.
In his full video statement, Aiyuk, 28, said the following:
“We’re dealing with, you know, like kids when they don’t get picked for the basketball game on the court, but the ones who brought the ball, so they say, ‘Okay, you don’t want to pick me, I’ll take my ball, I’ll go home. Donkey boys. Little boys.’
“Or like when your kid, he got this one toy, but he doesn’t quite know how to use it right, so somebody else is going to pick it up and play with it. And they’re like, ‘Oh yeah, this s— lity.’ And they’re like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, that’s my toy. Ass boy. Little silly boy.
“Man, stop running from the bill. The bill is coming. You scared. They were scared. The truth is that they scared. They know how I’ll be. They’ll say:” Oh yeah, BA, BA, BA did this, BA did that. BA did, you know that s—, allegedly. Reportedly. But what they won’t say is that they get to run in football, because they get to run from it. it’s on its way.
“It’s inevitable. It’s coming. Stop running. Stop being a female dog. Stop being a little cat. Stop running from the bill.”
Aiyuk’s message comes days after a warrant was issued for his arrest by the Santa Clara County (California) District Attorney for a traffic violation. The order, issued to show speed, stems from another video Aiyuk posted in December when a video showed him driving and reaching speeds of more than 100 mph on Santa Clara roads, including near the 49ers’ home field, Levi’s Stadium.
