Dexter Lawrence landing spots: Eight potential destinations for Giants star DT

Sexy Dexy no longer wants to dance in New York.

Contract negotiations between Big Blue star Dexter Lawrence have not gone well for the defensive tackle, leading to reports Monday that he is seeking a trade from the only team he has played with for seven seasons.

The timing of the leaked news is calculated, as the Giants are set to report Tuesday for the start of voluntary workouts under new head coach John Harbaugh. It’s a shot across the bow for the New York front office to raise their bid for the DT steal.

Lawrence is coming off a breakout season, recording 0.5 sacks and 31 tackles in 17 games, ending his streak of three straight Pro Bowls. However, he remains a penetrating force capable of completely changing the complexion of any defence. Lawrence’s ability to get upfield and disrupt the pocket is a talent few can match. Even in a down year, he remained a top-10 indoor runner. The coil remains at the top.

Lawrence has two years left on his contract with a base salary of $18.5 million in 2026 and $18 million in 2027, with no guaranteed money remaining. An average of $22.5 million per year in his most recent contract ranks him 11th among defensemen. Even entering his age-29 season, he’s worth the salary bump. The desire for a new deal, however, would reduce the compensation the Giants could get back in a trade.

Every team in the NFL could use a player of Lawrence’s caliber. Each team. But let’s run through a list of some ideal landing spots for the Pro Bowler.
