Andrew Berry aims to shut down Myles Garrett trade speculation: ‘Myles is Brown’s career’

Browns' Jimmy Haslam confident Myles Garrett will 'break sack record again' despite Jim Schwartz departure

The Myles Garrett trade offer continues to be in the news cycle, but the Browns are adamant that they are not moving him.

Speaking to reporters at the NFL’s annual meeting in Phoenix on Sunday, Browns general manager Andrew Berry shot down rumors that Cleveland changed Garrett’s contract with the goal of trading him.

“If we wanted to trade Myles, we wouldn’t have had to do a contract adjustment,” Berry said, via ESPN. “So it has nothing to do with it.”

Berry’s office recently modified Garrett’s four-year, $160 million contract, which he originally signed in March 2025, prompting new offers that he could be on the way to another in 2026. The rumors were familiar to those who remember Garrett taking a very public position in early 2025 that included a trade demand and cited Brown’s currently unrealistic wish. in the last years of his career. That setback ended when Cleveland made Garrett the highest-paid running back in the NFL while opening the door for critics to sum up any future discontent simply: Garrett got paid and has to deal with the consequences of his lucrative salary.

This time, Garrett has not gone public with any renewed desire to play elsewhere. But Cleveland’s decision to modify Garrett’s contract — and its proposal to expand the draft pick trade window from three to five years into the future — led many to believe a Garrett trade was imminent.

Berry shut it down tight on Sunday.

“Myles is Brown’s career,” Berry said. “He’s one of the faces of our organization. I think we’ve been very clear both past and present about our feelings. I understand all the questions. I’ll be honest, I don’t really want to spend a ton more time on the subject.”
