Bills GM Brandon Beane excited to get ‘full reset’ with WR Keon Coleman under new coaching staff

Bills GM Brandon Beane excited to get 'full reset' with WR Keon Coleman under new coaching staff

It’s already been an interesting off-season for Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman after a rough two years in the NFL.

Coleman, the No. 33 overall pick by Buffalo in the 2024 draft, had a monster opening week in his sophomore campaign, hauling in eight catches for 112 yards and a touchdown in the Bills’ win over the Baltimore Ravens. It would take him another month of combined games to eclipse that total, and as the season progressed, he ended up with a healthy Giant in many instances.

Then, in a January news conference after Sean McDermott was fired, team owner Terry Pegula suggested Buffalo’s selection of Coleman was driven by the coaches — a case of general manager Brandon Beane being a “team guy.” Although Beane continued to say Coleman was his pick, backlash and speculation about the forward’s future was natural.

Joe Brady has since been promoted from offensive line coach to head coach and backed Coleman, and on Saturday Beane reiterated his faith in the 22-year-old.

“It’s been good,” Beane said during NFL Network coverage of the NFL Scouting Combine regarding the relationship between Coleman and Brady. “We also got a new coach, Drew Terrell, who’s really excited. Pete Carmichael is our new OC. Pete, these guys, they all looked at him and they were like, man, I’m looking forward to working with him. I think there’s a new energy and it’s Year 3, and we’re going to have a full reset with Keon.

“Keon had a really good offseason last year, and honestly, he had a really good training camp. We played the Ravens in the first game. He had 100 and whatever yards, and just some things from a developmental standpoint after that, but Keon has said all the right things. I’ll give him that, he’s very responsible. He’s never made all our excuses and we know that. Joe and these new coaches are very excited about what’s in store for 3rd year.”
