Longtime Eagles OT Lane Johnson will return for his 14th season with Philadelphia

Those who underestimated the offense got a harsh reminder of its importance in 2025, a season in which Johnson missed eight games, including their playoff loss to San Francisco in the Wild Card round. Without a rock-solid right tackle on the team, Philadelphia’s offense struggled significantly, failing to run the ball consistently despite still having 2024 AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley.

In Johnson’s absence — which began after Week 11 — the Eagles lost five of their last eight games. There were many problems to blame, but when Johnson left it was painfully obvious how important he was to the offense.

As he approaches his 36th birthday in May, Johnson has no plans to retire just yet. He will return to tackle unfinished business — which will include leading an offensive line that will venture into a new season without OL coach Jeff Stoutland — and bolster the right side of what had to be a leaky line in his absence.
