Steelers’ TJ Watt ‘excited to play’ against Ravens after recovering from lung surgery

Steelers' TJ Watt 'excited to play' against Ravens after recovering from lung surgery

“I got dry needled at the station. It didn’t feel right shortly after. I was in a lot of pain,” Watt said. “Ended up going to the hospital and having surgery. Recovery was different because it was something I wasn’t used to, but I’m very thankful for everyone here, very thankful for Dr. (Ryan M.) Levy at UPMC for taking good care of me and helping guide this whole process back. It’s been very unique, but I feel very good sitting here today.”

As for football, Watt couldn’t have picked a better time to try to get back on the field.

Because Pittsburgh lost to the Cleveland Browns in Week 17 and Baltimore beat the Green Bay Packers, the Ravens can clinch the AFC North title and send the Steelers home for the winter with a win Sunday night in the Steel City. Pittsburgh can do the same to Baltimore with a win at home and will need Watts’ involvement to maximize the Steelers’ chances of success.

Watt doesn’t plan to undergo another round of dry needling for this race, smiling before telling reporters: “I’m going to take a break now, for sure.” The Steelers will hope he can win them a few with his performance on Sunday.
