Although Ryans did not say it directly, it sounds like the burning nature of the offseason supplement did not fit what the coach has come up with in his locker room – or on the field.
“This is always my first rule or a team rule for our boys, always protecting the team,” said Ryans. “It starts with me as a head coach to ensure that everyone is on the same page with having the first mentality of the team … it will never revolve around one person. It will never revolve around me personally. It’s joint as a team, this is how you do great things.”
To date, Ryan’s team is not in a great place. Texans have lost all three games with one property, which is close to the middle of the pack in most of the major defense of statistical categories and are most likely to feel the pressure based on their difficult start.
If it was ever time to call wagons, it is now. And sometimes everyone can’t jump back on board to continue the journey.
“For me as a head coach, you have to make what others may be a difficult decision,” Ryan said. “But when it’s about the team and I think it’s my basic value that it’s all about the team, all the decision is easy for me.
“I know where we stand and I know what everyone here in our organization, in our team, in the locker room, I know what everyone stands for. I know what everyone turns. So, everyone looks at me to make the right decision. I will always do it for my players.”
