“It was after a play, we stopped him and I think I ended up with a bag,” Simmons recalled. “All of a sudden we’re talking about Smack and Cally (head coach Brian Callahan) is giving him the Dang play and I’m still talking to him, I’m jaw because it’s my game – I want to talk smack, I want to get to the head.
“He didn’t provide it. He is still talking about Smack while Cally gets the play to him. He gives the play for the break and still speaks Smack to me. When they gave him this game and came to the line, the next play after the Smack tal, he threw us 80 meters to Calvin Ridley.
When the face of Titans’ bright future, Simmons is now in his bloom as he approaches his 28th birthday. He is also one of the top members of the association following a huge turnover that is typical of a team that is aiming for a different direction and understands that he is responsible for helping players such as Ward adjustment, “to make him feel at home.”
During this recent uncertain period, Tennessee has faded in relatively inappropriate as he cycled through the team manager and made changes with the head coach and manager. Simmons has been there for all that, but thinks Ward’s arrival will finally solve things and place Titans to succeed in the future – regardless of whether people are drawing attention to them now.
“I think since we are now with him not getting enough praise, which is not known as no. 1 choice overall or not get the attention and praise he deserves,” Simmons said. “But I think this is a chip on the shoulder. You could tell how he goes about his business – his swagger, his appearance – this will be one of the ones I’m excited to see. I’m excited to get back to the camp next week to be more around him and learn a little more about him.”
