GM Andrew Berry: Nick Chubb returns to Browns 'increasingly unlikely'

There are plenty of clues suggesting that Chubb will not give the brown and orange in 2025. Cleveland had he tested a free agency in March, spent the second and fourth rounds of selection of Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson and convinced Ford to pay off the team. The running room is crowded and after fans spent weeks longing for Browns to sign a chubb, even that movement has since spread.

Ford’s pay cut would have been interpreted in two fashion. On the one hand, taking a pay cut makes it easier to keep. Otherwise, less money spent in Ford means it is more available to use to bring Chubb back into the board.

At this point-equivalent with projects 90-year-old Browns, Browns is not much interested in returning Chubb, which is in third place of all time in the rush meters of the Browns Rights history behind the Pro Football Hall of Famers Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly.

They have plenty of legitimate reasons to turn to other candidates. Chubb did not resemble himself when he returned from devastating knee injuries last season and saw that the campaign ended prematurely due to legal injury. With a 1,371 career rushing experiments under the belt and three significant knee injuries in his past – as well as his imminent birthday, a frightened landmark for running back – Cleveland made sense to become younger in the position and not shy about doing so.

Of course, Berry did not rule out a reunion because Chubb could try the market and find that he would rather remain in Cleveland on an team -friendly contract that offers him an opportunity to earn a seat on the project list. It is, however, that a four -hour Pro Bowler has not yet been signed by a team.

With two newcomer and Ford on the depth chart, Chubb would have to prove that he has taken significant steps to convince Browns to hold him over one of the younger options. For a while, while expressing gratitude for Chubb’s contribution to Browns over the past seven seasons, Cleveland seems to be satisfied with continuing without him.
