Inter Miami CF 2024 league cup schedule

The highly anticipated tournament will begin on July 26th and the reigning champions will look to defend their first ever title beginning with a group stage match against Club Puebla on July 27th at 8:00 PM ET at Chase Stadium.

Inter Miami CF will depart and head to Houston, TX to face Tigres UANL on August 3rd at NRG Stadium at 8:00 PM ET.

League Cup 2024

In this year’s league cup, 18 teams from the Mexican league, Liga MX and Major League Soccer (MLS) will face teams from the United States and Canada.

All clubs, except champions from each league, are ranked and divided into three groups according to their performance (ranks 1-15, 16-30 and 31-45). There are 15 groups, each consisting of one club from each level. The clubs in each group are selected to ensure they are geographically close to each other and equal in ability.

The tournament is divided into two geographical zones, East and West, to reduce travel. East has seven groups and West has eight. Last year’s champions, Club America of LIGA MX and Columbus Crew of MLS, automatically advance to the Round of 32, skipping the first group stage. The top-ranked LIGA MX can hold matches at their home stadiums up to certain stages of the tournament, depending on their position. For example, the top club can hold matches until the round of 16.

Overall, the format is set up to better manage the teams’ journeys, maintain competitive balance and give the best clubs an advantage from the previous season.

La Primera

Inter Miami CF won their first title with a win last year in the final by defeating Nashville SC in the final at GEODIS Park in Nashville. The final was highlighted by a screamer from 2023 League Cup Best Player and Top Scorer Lionel Messi, and a 2023 penalty save from 2023 League Cup Best Goalkeeper Drake Callender.

Where to watch

Fans around the world will be able to watch the League Cup games on the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app. Select games will air on TelevisaUnivision, Fox Sports (FS1), TSN and RDN.
