Who's in, who's out? Inter Miami confirm the departure of Josef Martinez

The Audi MLS Cup playoffs have begun, but 11 teams are already focused on the offseason and planning for 2024.

MLSsoccer.com will regularly update this year-end list. Players who remain, those who are leaving and others who have received new contract offers from their club are included.

OCT. 25 – After a sensational summer, Inter Miami CF have laid the groundwork for strengthening their squad this winter.

The biggest headline is that the club have officially rejected the contract rights of Josef Martínez, which could potentially make way for the long-rumoured signing of Luis Suárez. The Uruguayan star was, of course, teammates with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba in some of FC Barcelona’s legendary squads in the 1990s. Will Atlanta United icon Josef sign elsewhere in MLS after his isolated season in South Florida?

Dixon Arroyo, a mid-season signing after long-term injuries to Gregore and Jean Mota, is out of contract. But the IMCF are in talks about a possible return for the defensive midfielder. Talks are also ongoing with defender Leandro González Pirez following his loan to Argentine side River Plate (which has an option to buy).

Finnish national team winger Robert Taylor, who took advantage of Messi’s arrival, was granted contract rights. Ditto for local Ian Fray, who is recovering from another serious knee injury.
