Espinoza, 28, has scored 26 goals and recorded 51 assists in 142 regular-season games (136 starts) for the Earthquakes since joining in 2019 from LaLiga side Villarreal.
This year, Espinoza has been named to Audi’s Team of the Day six times and was named MLS Player of the Month for April 2023.
“I really love earthquakes. This is where I find happiness on the field and I am very excited to help the club take the next steps forward,” said Espinoza. “My family feels very comfortable here, my children were born here, I feel that San Jose is a part of me and I am very happy here.” I feel at home.”
This year, San Jose is in its first season with coach Luchi Gonzalez at the helm. At the League Cup break, the club sits in sixth place in the Western Conference (8W-7L-8D, 32 points) while chasing a return to the Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs.
