Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham needs a groin injury assessed ahead of El Clasico

Real madrid say Jude Bellingham has a bit of discomfort in his groin after the midfielder was taken off late on The Champions League victory over Braga.

Bellingham appeared to be injured and was taken off the field in the 89th minute, with Lucas Vazquez in his place. The plan is to let Bellingham rest tomorrow and check his condition again on Thursday.

There is optimism at this stage that he will be fine to face Barcelona in the Clasico on Saturday.

Bellingham had doubled Madrid’s lead in the second half with a good effort just inside Braga’s penalty area. The goal was the 20-year-old’s 11th of the season for his new side in just his 12th game. He has started all three of Madrid’s Champions League games and nine of their 10 La Liga games, only being rested for the 2-0 win over Las Palmas at the end of September.

Bellingham joined Madrid from Borussia Dortmund for an initial €103m (£88m; $110m) fee which could rise to a club record.
