Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has suffered an ankle ligament injury that is expected to keep him out for around six weeks.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury during Real’s two-goal win over Real Betis on Sunday and was injured early in the second half.
Madrid confirmed the midfielder’s diagnosis on Monday after tests, with Ceballos not expected to return to action until the end of October.
Ceballos, who was replaced in the 65th minute of the match, was making his first start of the season after coming on as a late substitute in the home league win over Real Valladolid and the UEFA Super Cup triumph over Atalanta.
The midfielder started just five league games for Madrid last season and was linked with a return to Betis in the summer, but no move materialised.
Madrid’s two-goal victory moves them to eight points after their first four La Liga games.
