Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest - Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups and predictions

Liverpool will aim to keep pace with their rivals at the top of the Premier League when they host Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds are back from the international break with two wins; A 2-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby and a 5-1 win over Toulouse in the Europa League on Thursday. Jurgen Klopp’s side could theoretically sit top of the Premier League on Monday, although they will need a host of favors from elsewhere.

Liverpool are unbeaten in four games and have won all seven of their games at Anfield in various competitions this season. Nottingham Forest will not relish a trip to Merseyside.

Steve Cooper’s side have drawn their last three Premier League games, although all have been wins. Forest threw away a two-goal lead against strugglers Luton Town last time out but will be hoping to cause Liverpool as much trouble as they did in last season’s 3-2 defeat at Anfield.

Liverpool have some fitness concerns on Sunday, but Klopp has no new injuries to deal with since beating Everton and Toulouse.

The Reds are still missing Thiago, who is yet to feature this season, while Andy Robertson has just had shoulder surgery which will keep him out for three to four months.

Young duo Stefan Bajcetic and Ben Doak are also missing for Klopp, the latter of whom is currently closer to a first-team return, while Curtis Jones will serve the final game of his three-match suspension when Forest come to Anfield.

Liverpool will have been moved to see Cody Gakpo get some minutes on Thursday after picking up an injury a few weeks ago against Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool predicted team against Nottingham Forest (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Diaz, Nunez, Salah.

Divock Origi will miss the emotional return to Anfield this weekend after picking up a hip injury during the international season. The Belgian striker would have been well received on Merseyside after his frequent exploits in a Liverpool shirt over the years.

Taiwo Awoniyi, who was also a one-time Liverpool player despite never playing for the Reds, is likely to miss the trip. The Nigerian striker scored the only goal of the game in Forest’s win against Klopp’s side last season.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is out for over a month due to a thigh injury, while both Felipe and Danilo will likely be out of the game at Anfield.

Full-backs Nuno Tavares and Gonzalo Montiel will also be absent for Cooper as his injury list continues to grow, but they are highly unlikely to return to the bench against Liverpool.

Nottingham Forest predicted team against Liverpool (4-3-3): Turner; Aurier, Boly, Murillo, Toffolo; Sangare, Mangala, Dominguez; Gibbs-White, Wood, Elanga.

Liverpool’s home record has consistently been one of the best in recent seasons, while Forest’s away record has been poor since returning to the Premier League. Despite beating Chelsea earlier in the campaign, Cooper’s men have usually found it difficult to get points away from home.

Liverpool’s five-star performance on Thursday will boost their confidence ahead of this weekend’s clash and, despite a shaky defensive performance so far this season, the Reds should do well against Forest’s visit to Anfield.
