How much Man Utd paid for Andre Onana was revealed

Inter have revealed the exact amount they received from Manchester United for Andre Onana in the summer transfer window.

United completed the signing of Onana in July, securing their long-term replacement for David de Gea, who was released at the end of his contract and is without a club.

Onana rose to international fame during his six-year spell at Ajax, playing in the Champions League semi-finals in the 2018/19 season.

He joined Inter on a free transfer last summer and took one step closer to European glory with the Nerazzurri, starring as they reached the Champions League final before losing to Manchester City.

Chelsea showed an interest in Onana earlier this year but instead opted to buy a cheaper option in Brighton & Hove Albion’s Robert Sanchez, paving the way for the Cameroonian to join United and link up with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

At the time of the transfer, United were reported to have paid a fee of just north of €46m (£40m) for Onana’s additions, and Inter have now confirmed the sum paid was €50.2m (£43.7m) in public financial accounts.

This made Onana the fifth most expensive sale in Inter’s history, behind Mauro Icardi (€58m), Achraf Hakimi (€60m), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (€69m) and Romelu Lukaku (€115m).

In contrast, Onana didn’t even make the top ten of United’s most expensive signings, while they paid more for Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund in the same transfer window.

Onana has made a shaky start to life at Old Trafford with a series of errors and slips, but he rebounded in Tuesday’s 1-0 Champions League win over Kobenhavn, saving a last-minute Jordan Larsson penalty to preserve the treble. score.
